Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 3 months old

Her story: Masleen is a Christian who worked for a family full time for two years. The family had 3 children aged 10, 4 and 2. Masleen looked after the little one and helped in the house with cleaning and laundry. Then the family no longer needed a full time domestic and now they still call her every now and then to clean their house. She has an Au Pair and CPR course and her two children are both grown up and living in Zimbabwe. She has one grandchild and was the first lady ever to bring a pen and paper to our course to make notes. One Stop Domestic found work for her looking after a 3 months old baby. Unfortunately the family had to move but gave her a very nice reference. Masleen currently works as a nurse but is off every Thursday and looking for Thursday work in the Cape Town area.

References: Yes, two

What the reference saidMasleen has been working for us for two years full time. She helped to look after our smallest one a lot but also played with the other two. She cleaned and took care of our laundry. For the children she prepared basic meals. Her ironing is very good. Then the children grew up and we now only call her to clean our house when we need her which is about once in two weeks. Masleen is always puctual and is a very happy person with a great attitude. She is absolutely honest and her English is fantastic. I can recommend her to anyone.

We got Masleen from One Stop Domestic. She was with us for about 6 months and cleaning our small flat as well as looking after my 3 year old baby boy 3 days/week. We were very fond of her. She was both committed and responsible as well as hard working. We had to move and that's the only reason she no longer works for us. I was often at home when she cared for the little one but at times out of the house as well. She was wonderful with him and followed all my instructions well. I can certainly recommend her for both cleaning and child minding.

My observationMasleen has experience with both children and elderly. Her own children are grown up. On weekends she plays the guitar at her church and describes herself as a friendly person who is passionate about children.

What the reference said: Rosie has been working for us since 2014. She cleans both our house and office. But we know her already longer than that and she is a honest lady that is not lazy at all. We showed her in the beginning how we want things done and from then she carried on. She is very reliable and a nice addition to the family.

Her story: Maggie currently works for two families.  For the one she has been working for 19 years and for the other one for 6 years.  We called both families for a testimonial. There has never been any child minding involved so we would suggest her as a cleaning lady. One Stop Domestic found more days for her and now she is still looking for the day(s) above.

ReferencesYes, two

What the reference said: Maggie is more a friend to me than a maid.  She cleans your house thoroughly and is super reliable.  She is punctual and virtually never sick.  She is still “old school” and cleans on her knees and nobody can clean a house like Maggie does. She sees herself what needs to be done next.  When we go on holiday we give her the keys of the house and the alarm code to look after the animals, we fully trust her with everything.

Our observation: Maggie really gives the rooms a thorough clean, under the beds and carpets, works independently and works with a smile on her face.

Saru worked fo us for 2 days a week until we moved to Durban. Our daughter was 2 years old and she was very good with her. I would describe Saru as very capable. I was a stay at home mom but my daughter was regularly with her when I had to go shopping or do other chores in the mornings. I can certainly recommend her to anyone.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 2 years old

Her story: Patricia is a Christian who worked for 4 years as a char for a family with two children. They were 7 and 2 years old when she started to work for them.  Then they moved to Australia and Patricia doesn’t have a reference from then.  She says if someone teaches her how to cook she is willing to cook for her new family. For the last 3 years she works for the same family every Tuesday but since one day is too little income she is looking for full time work.  That employer gave her a very nice testimonial. In the meantime we placed her during the week and now she is still looking for Saturday work.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Patricia has been working for me once a week for 3 years now. She is totally reliable and honest and every time locks up our house properly before she leaves.  She is intelligent, hard working and uses her initiative. Everyone in the family likes her, also our cat.  If she can’t come she let’s me know and always adds that little extra touch to my house.  In the 3 years she has also helped out my friends and neighbors and they were equally happy with her. I can recommend her to anyone.

Patricia was given to us by One Stop Domestic. She was our nanny for our daughter from when she was only 3 months old. She also cleaned the house sometimes and I must say she irons very well. We no longer need Patricia's service and hope One Stop Domestic will be able to find her a cleaning and nanny position soon.

Our observation: Patricia cleans thoroughly and uses her own initiative. Her favorite tasks are ironing and child minding. She immediately made contact with my toddler and started to play with him.  She is naturally good with children and has three children of her own who were born between 2000 and 2011.

She is not demanding at all and would fit in anywhere.  I can truly recommend her and anyone can contact me about a reference for her.

Constance worked for us for about 8 days as a stand in domestic. She got on with the job and used her own initiative. She is hard working and reliable as well as honest.
