Name: 101.) Vuyeka (Vuvu)  Mdlungu - cleaner or nanny for

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 6 months old

Her story: Vuyeka worked for 2 years for a cell phone company call centre which was closed down. We called her supervisor for a testimonial. End of 2014 One Stop Domestic found stand in work for Vuyeka in the big vacation in Stellenbosch for 3 weeks with a family that has 2 children and in 2015 she worked 3 days a week for a single mother with two children who could then no longer afford her. We called both of them for a testimonial. Her children were born in 2007 and 2012 and stay with her and her husband.

References: Yes, three

What the reference said: Vuyeka is a very hard worker who has never been sick in the three years with us and is a fast learner who adapted well to any program changes in the company.  If we wouldn’t have closed down our Somerset branch to move to Cape Town which was too far for her, she would still be working for us. Vuyeka worked for us as a stand in domestic in the 2014/15 school holidays. Our sleep in nanny took her yearly leave. Our children were 7 and 9 years old and although her main focus was not on the children but on cleaning the house and taking care of the laundry she interacted with them daily. If I must name one thing that caught my eye it was how well Vuyeka can pack a clothing cupboard, she just has that touch with the laundry and packs them so neatly. Vuvu worked for me for about 3 months 3 days a week. My two girls were 6 months and 10 years old and they loved her. She mainly looked after the 6 months old so I could work from home while the older girl was in school. My oldest girl is still angry at me for having to let Vuvu go because of financial reasons only. Although I was always at home she was unsupervised with my little daughter and after a few weeks of getting to know each other managed her well.

Our observation: Vuyeka did well at our training course.  She says she likes new challenges and is passionate about children. She also handled all our equipment with care and was playing with my toddler out of her own.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 2 years and 7 years

Her storyIn Zimbabwe Lizzy worked in a Hotel as a cleaning lady for 3 years. She moved to South Africa and worked for a divorced man with two children. They were 2 and 7 years old when she started to work for him. While the oldest one was in school she stayed at home with the 2 year old, cooked basic meals for the children and took care of the household. The man then decided to employ a stay in nanny. One Stop Dometic found full time work for Lizzy for 2 years until they decided their children are bigger now and they would like to use cleaning services twice a week instead. Now Lizzy is looking for a new challenge again and would like to work for one family full time and long term.

References: Yes, two

What the reference saidWhen I think of Lizzy two words come into my mind: "honest and wonderful".  She cleaned, ironed and stayed at home with our 2 year old boy while the older sibling was in school already. Lizzy couldn't sleep in and that is the only reason why she is no longer working for us. Our 2 year old boy was difficult at times and she managed him very well. Her housekeeping was also up to standard and I can recommend her to anyone.

Second reference will be contacted soon!

Our observationLizzy is clever and her English is very good. She describes herself as a social person who is passionate about children of all ages.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? No

Her storyZuki worked for 3 years for a shoe selling shop in Cape Town. She worked there every day and did a bit of everything. She cleaned the shelves, floors and toilets, operated the till and did the pay slips. Then the shoe shop closed down. Zuki then helped the lady who employs her husband as a gardener. We called both for a testimonial and have a copy of her certificates. In the meantime we placed Zucki in two families as a cleaning lady. They are both happy with her and she's still looking for work on the day(s) above.

References: Yes, two

What the reference saidZuki was our bigges asset around. She worked for us for 3 years and was sick only a few days. She is dedicated and hard working and was good with our clients. Zuki is loyal and I am sure if she starts with a family she is comitted to work there for a very long time. Zuki worked for me off and on when my own cleaning lady was not there. Her husband has been our gardener for years. Zuki works well and knows everything about house cleaning. She cooked for us when I couldn't do it and was fine with our dog inside the house. Her ironing was up to standard and our children are already grown ups.

Our observationZuki says she likes animals and children. She lives together with her husband who works full time and their children are with grandma in the Eastern Cape. Zuki describes herself as a hard working person who is friendly and loyal.

Unfortunately our financial situation changed and we could no longer afford her. We live in Gordon's Bay and Patience likes children a lot, our children loved to play with her. Her cleaning and ironing were also good.

Her story: Andiswa first worked for a cleaning company in Somerset West until her contract expired. She then was a temp cleaning lady for a spit braai business. One Stop Domestic placed her and she worked for 3 weeks as a sleep in lady until the people who looked after Andiswa's daughter were no longer prepared to look after the child and now Andiswa is looking for sleep out work.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Andiswa was a cleaner at our spit braai business and with us for quite a while. She was a good worker, always on time and only left when the job was done. She helped out several times on short notice and was very trustworthy. One Stop Domestic placed Andiswa with us and we were very fond of her. She only worked for us for 3 weeks as a sleep in lady until nobody could look after her little daughter any more. Andiswa kept our house very clean and used her own initiative. She is now looking for sleep out work and we truly regret that we can no longer keep her as a sleep in domestic. Our children who are teenagers also liked her and having a child of her own and the natural interest she shows in children definitely qualify her to also be a nanny.

Our observation: Andiswa describes herself as an active person who likes to spend time with her family on weekends. She likes children very much and on weekends cleans her own and sometimes her grandmother's house.

Her story: Sylvia cleaned and ironed for a person in Simonstown until her employer passed away. She then became a security officer and worked as one until she was retrenched. One Stop Domestic found work for her in Somerset the whole of 2016. End of 2016 her son went to initiation school and Sylvia told her employer she would only be able to start working again a certain date. The employer couldn't wait for her because they had guests over the holidays and they took another domestic from us. But they gave Sylvia a nice reference.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Sylvia worked for us from November 2015 until the End of 2016. We are a household with 2 school children. Sylvia was very dedicated and after an initial teaching of how things need to be done she ran our household well. She also got along well with our gardener whom we got from One Stop Domestic too. At the end of 2016 Sylvia informed us that because of her son she had to stay on vacation longer than planned. We could not wait for her and had to employ another lady instead. But I can recommend her for both cleaning and ironing as she ran our house without supervision.

Our observation: Sylvia was shy at first and very friendly. She is serious about finding work and doesn't like to sit at home. In her free time she likes to read, go to church and play with her children

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? No

Her story: Meybe is a Christian who first worked as a sleep in domestic in Johannesburg and then decided to move to the Cape area. In May 2014 she worked for a family in Helderview for two weeks. Then one of her children in Zimbabwe became sick and she had to go back. When she came back after three weeks the family had gotten another domestic since she had originally promised to only stay for one week.  I called that family for a testimonial and they really liked Meybe except for her being away for so long.  The family also says anyone is welcome to phone them about Maybe but in the meantime they took a domestic from us.  Since they are happy with their current one Maybe can’t come back to them.  Meybe says she likes to cook and if someone would have the time to teach her she would be able to cook for her new family.  She also said that her employer in Johannesburg let her iron a lot so that she is experienced when it comes to ironingFrom July 2014 she was working in a restaurant kitchen but the restaurant closed down. We however still contacted the owner for a testimonial.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Maybe only worked for us for a bit more than two weeks.  She had to go to Zimbabwe because of one of her children and told us she would be back in a week.  After three weeks she phoned us that she will come back now and by then we had already taken a cleaning lady from One Stop Domestic.  Maybe was clean and never caused any problems during her time with us.  Nothing went missing and since it is a few months ago now that she worked for us I still can’t find anything that would be missing.  It’s just that she stayed for too long in Zimbabwe that we let her go; if she would have come back in a week as promised we would certainly have taken her back. Maybe worked for us in the kitchen, both cooking and cleaning for about 6 months until we closed down.  She was always punctual, never sick and never gave us any problems.  She was honest and a real hard worker.

Our observation: Meybe’s English was very very good.  She says she only needs instructions one time and is then able to go on alone. Her children stay with her mother in Zimbabwe.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, newborn

Her storyBussi worked for a year for a family with a 3 year old child until they could no longer afford her. She then worked for a family with two children full time for a year until the family moved. Then Bussi started to work for a family where the mom was expecting twin girls. She assisted the mother from when the twins were out of hospital until Bussi went on maternity leave herself and they had to fill her position. In all three families Bussi did a combination of cleaning and child minding and we have very good references of all three families about her, please see below. We also have a copy of her child minding and first aid certificate.

References: Yes, three

What the reference saidMy husband and I both work and were devestated when our previous nanny had to leave. Bussi jumped right in and ran my household plus looked after our 3 year old daughter in the afternoons. She is so capable and multi tasking! She managed everything from writing me a weekly grocery list to re-organizing my daughters playroom. She became my daughter's friend, packed her lunch box and got her ready for school every morning. We had to let Bussi go after a year because our financial situation changed drastically and I must say I have not been able to find a suitable replacement as this young lady is so hard working and has such potential.

Bussi worked for us for just over a year. Her main duty was to look after our two children, aged 2 years and 2 months at the time. The children were her priority and housework was done when they slept or were in school. We then moved too far away for her to still work for us and were very sad that we lost a hard working lady who works so well with children.

Bussi started working for us 2 weeks before our twin girls arrived. She helped me with them from the start. Her responsibilities were sterilizing the baby bottles, bottle feed them and play with them when they were awake. She also cleaned our house. Then Bussi went on maternity leave herself and we has to replace her as it is very hectic with twins. We are sure she will soon find work again as she is so dedicated, never was sick or late.

Our observation: Bussi truly loves children which all 3 of her previous employers confirmed. In her free time she likes to swim and play netball. Sundays she goes to church.

Her storyFor 2 years Lucy worked for a family with two children aged 2 months and 2 years. She cleaned and also looked after the children but when they moved overseas she forgot to ask them for a reference letter. She then cleaned a guesthouse until it became low season and they no longer needed her. We called the owner for a testimonial.

References: Yes, one

What the reference saidLucy has been working for our guesthouse for 18 months. She is always on time and hard working. She cleans and also irons for us and we can highly recommend her. Unfortunately in low season we are not very busy and have to let some of the ladies go. We of course risk that next season they have found permanent domestic work.

Our observationLucy likes children and likes to be told when she is doing something wrong. Weekends she goes to church and her two children live in Zimbabwe.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 3 months of age

Her story: Sibi came to South Africa in 2010.  She worked every Saturday for a crèche in Gordon’s bay, did both cleaning and playing with the children. Then she worked as a domestic in Somerset West. The family had two children (2 and 5 years of age).  The 2 year old stayed alone at home with Sibi while she also took care of house. When the family moved away in 2013 we found work for her in Stellenbosch, again looking after a 2 year old girl and cleaning the house.  The family was very happy with her work but after a while needed a sleep in nanny.  From the End of 2013 she worked for 8 months for a family who gave her an excellent testimonial.  They moved to England. There Sibi was alone at home with a 3 month old boy while cleaning the house. For about 1,5 years now she has been doing babysitting for us every Saturday half a day.

References: Yes, four, including myself

What the reference said: She is an excellent worker; very flexible (came to clean on a Sunday when asked to). She is a star and besides cleaning she also sometimes looks after the children in my daycare from home. She is very punctual and has never been sick in 3 years. She is extremely honest, a very fast worker with own initiative.  Sibi was alone at home with my boy from when he was 3 months old while my husband and I worked full time.  She was responsible with him and he got attached to her quicklyShe is a very fast learner and had a good relationship with both me and my husband.  Her ironing is beautiful and she is honest and uses her own initiative.  Sibi spoke a lot to my 3 months old boy and he loved her.  She is always eager to learn. She has never let us down. If she could not come she always let us know which was about twice in 18 months and she is a natural with children. All 4 our kids love her. She is also a fast cleaner, sometimes has to do light house work. I actually suggested to Sibi to go for a higher income than the average because what she has to offer is certainly above average.

Our observation: Sibi is presentable, clean, neat and always smiles. She is a very hard worker and fast learner. She is not at all in your way and knows how to stay in the background when you have guests. She is a "children's magnet", the little ones just love her. We definitely would like to keep her Saturdays but if she gets a nice job offer including Saturdays we will sadly let her go.

Her story: Porcia worked for the same family from 2013-2015. They had two children aged 2 and 3. End of 2015 One Stop Domestic found work for her as a stand in domestic. When the family's regular domestic didn't return they offered Porcia 4 days a week and now she is still looking for the days above.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Porcia worked for us for about two years and was one of the best cleaning ladies I ever had. In the mornings she bathed my two children and gave them breakfast. They were at that stage 2 and 3 years old. Porcia is excellent. I gave her a list of what to do and she finished it almost every day. She stayed in with us. She is amazing and very trustworthy, our money often lays around openly. Then Porcia fell pregnant and had her baby and came back to us with her baby. And it was too much for her to manage the house plus the 3 children. That is the only reason why she left. She didn't want to be away from her child and told us she is prepared to be away from the baby when the baby would be a bit older.

My observation: Porcia likes children and in her free time reads and spends time with her husband and one child. Sundays she goes to church and describes herself as open to new challenges and social.

She was always on call and came in when we needed her. Needless to say that she was trustworthy, punctual and not often sick. She then found full time work and could no longer come clean the guest house so we found another lady do that.

Our observation: Shireen is interested in a long term working relationship with her new employer. She is clever and has already cooked family dinner for her last employer. On weekends she gives children dancing lessons as part of a church group and her own children are all grown up.

Her story: Sima first worked for a farm in Stellenbosch where she is harvested grapes. In 2014 One Stop Domestic found work for her with a lady in Kelderhof. Sima is now working for that lady and her son's house and they are very happy with her. So we added her as a reference. Now she is still looking for the day(s) above.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Sima worked for myself for a week when my own nanny couldn't come. Every morning she was there up to half an hour earlier than what she had to be.  She is a natural with children and my toddler adored her. The older children liked her as well because she took trouble with them. Sima is intelligent, uses her head and is a hard worker.  She is friendly, clean, very energetic and asks questions rather than making a mistake. I would really recommend her to anyone. I thought my previous cleaning lady was special until I met Sima. One Stop Domestic placed her with us. Sima is so self disciplined, always comes a bit early, uses her head and doesn't go before her work is done. We really like her a lot and now she is also working for my son.

Our observation: Sima was very good with my little toddler.  When we served the women lunch she was the one who helped immediately with the dishing up and looked for what other work could be done next.

Our observation: Michael is clever and asked good questions.  One can see that he has experience working in the garden.  One day when “Mike” and his wife (who is the nanny working for me) and two girls are back in Zimbabwe he wants to start a garden service there.  He already has bought 3 weed eaters in South Africa and brought them to Zimbabwe where his mother looks after them (since you can’t buy them there).  It is impressive to me how many languages he speaks.

Her storyPrecious' mother works for a family in Zimbabwe. In the beginning Precious helped them out when her mother was sick, but later became part of their permanent staff as they had many guests and her mother couldn't manage the big house alone. Precious worked for them from 2009 to 2016. Their children were 10 and 12 years old when she started to work for them and we called the family for a testimonial.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: For Precious' reference we phoned all the way to Zimbabwe. The employer told us that Precious is very hard working and that she was with them for 7 years. First she helped out in the house and later her position became more permanent until she decided to join her husband in South Africa. The children liked her, she is very kind and has done some basic cooking. She is trustworthy and a very quick learner.

Our observationPrecious says that, on weekends, she listens to music, cleans her own house and goes to church on Sundays.

Her story: Mildred came to South Africa in 2009.  She worked in Gordon’s Bay as a domestic for 3 years until the family moved (but they gave her a reference).  She currently works for a lady one day a week but would prefer full time work.  She is even prepared to work Sundays.  Her own children were born in 1996 and 1998 and the youngest one stays with her.  Mildred says if someone teaches her how to cook she will be able to cook for her new family.  She has a basic childhood, development and stimulation course certificate of which I have a copy.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 6 months old

Her story: In Zimbabwe Priscillar worked as a housekeeper and nanny for the same family for 5 years. They had 4 children. Then she came to South Africa for a better income. One Stop Domestic found work for her as a one month stand-in domestic in Somerset. Her duties were again cleaning and child minding. We called both families for a testimonial. We found work for her and now she is still looking for the day(s) above.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Priscillar worked for us for almost exactly 5 years. Our youngest child was 6 months old when she started to work for us and at home with her while she cleaned the house. She was a great addition to our family and if she wouldn't have left for South Africa she would still be working for us. She was a good cleaner and good with our children and I can recommend her to anyone.

Priscillar worked for us for one month. Me and my 3 children came to South Africa for that time because my one boy is autistic and received treatment here. She cleaned for us and helped me look after the kids. She was like a sister to me and like a second mother to my children. She was extremely patient with them and they adored her.

Our observation: Priscillar says she is patient, likes to play with children, adapts easily and likes new challenges.

Yolanda worked for us as an au pair/nanny for our daughter the entire 2016. Our daughter started schoon now in 2017 and we no longer had a full time position for Yolanda. She younger one was at home with Lulu permanently while the other one went to creche. She also managed to clean the house when the little one slept and did all the ironing. Lulu has an easy going personality and handles stress very well. She is truly passionalte about children and also did evening babysitting for us for extra money. Our kids are now both in creche and I clean the house myself so there is no position for a cleaner or nanny any more. Lulu was part of our family and was never bothered when she had to work overtime. I can truly recommend her.

Our observationLulu likes children. On weekends she takes a walk and likes to be outside. She likes to cook and listen to music. Her children live with her mother and are used to Lulu having a sleep in position.

Her story: In 2011 Miriam came to the Strand from Beaufort West in the Karoo, where she was born and raised.  She worked for a cleaning agency and they organized her three jobs in 2011, all around Blouberg Strand.  One were one day a week and one every second week on a Saturday.  Then she quit working for the agency and continued to work for the three families privately in order to get more money.  But two of them moved away and now she works every fortnight on a Saturday.  Miriam says she will be able to cook for her new family if someone will take the time to teacher her how to.

ReferencesYes, two

What the reference saidMiriam is probably the most trustworthy person I have ever met.  When I tell her to make herself breakfast she would only make herself a cup of coffee unless I tell her specifically to also eat something.  You won’t go wrong with her.  I have a very tiny flat so she cleans with me every other Saturday.  If I would have the money to employ her full time I would.  Every time she comes in to clean I leave the house and leave her alone.  She is intelligent and also cleans my windows.

Our observation: Miriam worked for us for a week when my own nanny was on leave and also came to look after our dog and house as a sleep in while we were on holiday.  She had our house keys and alarm code in that week and we fully trust her.  She also cleaned and ironed well and used her head while doing the housework.

She also helped out a family 6 times and was looking after their 4 year old boy while another lady cleaned.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Nosa's sister cleans for me on Saturdays. Over the years she has been sick quite a bit or something was wrong with her children. Then Nosa came in her place to clean for me. I can say that I know both sisters very well. Nosa is terrifically loyal and works independently.  She stays in the house alone to clean it and we fully trust her. We normally leave so that the lady can clean properly without us being in the way. They are a good Christian family and very trustworthy and I can certainly recommend Nosa as a cleaning lady.

Nosa worked for us a few times to look after my 4 year old boy while another lady did the cleaning. But that was only when my own nanny was sick. The little one liked her immediately and I told her to keep him busy and talk to him a lot/explain him things. From the start she did that and I can say she follows instructions easily.

Our observation: Nosa is friendly and showed that she uses her own initiative. In her free time she meets friends and describees herself as an all-rounder who likes new challenges. She likes children and animals. Her own child was born in 2009, lives with her and Sundays they go to church.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said:  Prudence worked for us for about a year.  I left her alone with my children, the youngest one being 6 months and trusted her with them.  They were in the mornings in creche.  She was a good cleaner and always in a good mood.  Prudence is at the moment taking care of my mother at home two days of the week. But if she can find full time work we will let her go.  She is adorable with my mother and someone who is good with elderly is also good with kids. She is so caring and always in a good mood.

Our observation:  Prudence is an outgoing person who likes to work with children and spends her free time with her family.  She would like to cook for her new family if someone would take the time to teach her.  She likes to read to children and laughes a lot.  She thanked us several times for having allowed her to come to our course.

Her story: Pheliswa has been working for a family in Somerset West full time since 2012 when their youngest child was 3 months old. She was alone at home with the girl while both parents worked and also cleaned the appartment and took care of the laundry. In the meantime the family had a second child and the oldest one is in creche. Pheliswa was looking after the first child from when she was 3 months old and the second one was a newborn just out of hospital when she helped the mother who went again back to work full time when the little one was 3 months old. One Stop Domestic knows Pheliswa personally as she works in the same street than us. The family's oldest daughter used to come and play with her to our house so we have seen a lot of Pheliswa. We have also been over to their house and seen how clean and tidy she keeps everything. Now the family's youngest child also goes to creche and only need her 3 days/week. They are unfortunately not flexible in changing her days.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Pheliswa started to work for us when my oldest girl was 3 months old. I had to go back to work and waited a bit too long to get a nanny. So I let several ladies come and see how they were with my daughter who was a colic baby. Pheliswa was the only one who managed her well from the start. Ever since she has been super reliable in coming to work and the girls adore her. When our youngest one was born she helped me from when I was out of hospital. She is so kind and highly responsible with the children. Our appartment is always clean and I love the way she packs the clothes back in the cupboards after she ironed them. She's always got a smile on her face. Now our youngest child started to go to creche and we can no longer afford Pheliswa 5 days/week. Pheliswa sometimes cookes our family dinner as well when I don't have time. She will be great for any employer as she is so reliable and good in communicating. If something bothers her, she broke something or she will be late for work she will always let us know and I can highly recommend her. After all she would not be with us for 4 years now if we were not 100% happy with her work and trust her with our girls.

Our observationPheliswa easily smiles and loves children. Her English is very good and her free time she spends with her family, cleans her own house or meets with friends. She is open minded and likes new challenges.

The youngest one was 3 months old when she was alone with the baby in the mornings unsupervised as both my husband and I work. But she was already involved with the baby from when the baby was a newborn. She would prepare their bottles, keep to their routines, make them asleep and play with them when they were awake. We send her to the infant and child care as well as the first aid courses. She was very patient with them as well as responsible and caring. Gladis is also very flexible when some days she had to come in earlier or stay longer. She did babysitting for us evenings and slept over those nights. Many days she had to lock the house when the kids and I went away somewhere in the afternoon and she had to arm the alarm. She can be fully trusted with your house and children.

She was working 3days/week for a farm as a general worker, meaning her duties were harvesting fruits as well as cleaning the big storage halls and bathrooms. She then had a baby and stopped working for them. Siswe is now looking for a new challenge in a private household for more regular working hours.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Siswe worked for us as a general worker. She harvested outside but also cleaned our facilities like storage halls and offices and the bathrooms. She cleans very well, is a reliable worker and we can recommend her.

Our observation: Siwe likes to read and watch soccer. Her husband works full time and on weekends they meet friends or go to church.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 2 years old

Her story: Shelly is a Christian who worked for 2 years as a sleep in domestic in Johannesburg.  Then Shelly decided to move to the Western Cape.  I called that family for a testimonial. They had a 2 year old boy and Shelly looked after the little one while keeping the house clean. One Stop Domestic had found work for Shelly with the same family, that family moved and now she is again looking for the day(s) above.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Shelly worked for us for almost two years.  She took care of my son the whole day at home while my husband and I worked.  She was fabulous with him and he was so fond of her. He was 2 years old. She also took care of the cleaning and ironing. Her ironing was very good because she had to iron our working clothes. Shelly decided to relocate to CPT and that was the only reason why she is no longer working for us. We would certainly have kept her.

Our observation:  Shelly's English is very good. She answers all our questions without hesitation.  She describes herself as hard working and a thorough cleaner.  Sundays she likes to go to church and on the weekends she watches gospel channels and cleans her own house.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 3 years

Her story: From 2014 - 2014 Evelyn worked for a family in Erinvale 3 days a week until they could no longer afford her. In her free time she takes her children to the park or to swim. She says she loves children and likes a clean house. We have a copy of her Ecucare Au Pair course which she paid for herself. We called the family for a testimonial.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Evelyn has been working for us for almost 4 years. She comes highly recommended by us. Absolutely trustworthy, punctual and honest. She was almost never sick in 4 years. Evelyn is so clever and we almost found her over qualified for cleaning only. She also doesn't live in a township but is prepared to pay a bit more and live in a flat in the Strand where it is saver. She is great with children. We could only see her with visiting children every now and then of which the youngest one was about 3 years old. She is very patient with them and we often left her alone with the children. Unsupervised. She uses own initiative and often helped me in my office work, laminated for me. Because we have a second cleaning lady who works for us much longer we could no longer afford the two and had to make the decision to let her go. We can really recommend her to anyone. She has gone for a nanny course and has children of her own so I would certainly recommend her to a family with children as well.

We got Evelyn from One Stop Domestic and she was working for us for just over a year. Her duties were to clean our house in the mornings and play with our child in the afternoons. She works unsupervised and had the keys to our house. Because she has her own car she is not depending on public traffic. Our child was 3 years old when Evelyn started to work for us. Now our child goes daily to after care and there is not enough work for Evelyn any more. She loves to work with children and would now not see our child who got very attached to her any more at all. We now took a cleaning lady two days a week and with for Evelyn to find a family with children again soon as she is an excellent child minder....

Our observation: Evelyn is one of the few ladies with not only a driver's licence but also her own car. So she doesn't depend on public transport. She is very friendly, smiles a lot and is passionate about children.

What the reference saidMelody worked for us for 1,5 years. She cleaned and ironed very well and we were happy with her work. We then moved and that is the only reason why she no longer works for us.

Melody worked for us for 6 months. I am a stay at home mom and in the afternoons Melody would play with my children aged 1,5 and 3 years after she had finished the housework in the morning. Melody is polite, friendly and completely honest. I also fully trusted her with my children. We then moved and it was too far for her to still be our nanny.

She is a very hard worker and besides the cleaning also took care of the laundry on the weekends. She was never sick. She also worked for twice a week for a couple without children as a housekeeper. Then One Stop Domestic placed her into a family where she was mainly cleaning and ironing for 3 months full time but when finished played with their one year old boy. She left there because it was far from Somerset and the daily transport was too much. We everyone for a testimonial.

References: Yes, three

What the reference said: Patricia has been working for us for 3 years one day a week. Back then our only child was 2 years old when she started.  She was lovely with him. He was in crèche and she helped to look after him in the afternoons. We were also very happy with her cleaning and ironing.  We made her days less because our child is bigger.

Patricia worked for me for about 2 month twice a week. She was always punctual and very eager to work. She followed instructions well. Her duties were to clean and iron, I don't have any children but two dogs of which she was never afraid of.

Patricia worked for us for 3 month full time as a cleaning lady. When she was done with her chores she played a bit with our 1 year old boy. But the transport was so unreasonable that we had to get a lady from closer to where we live.

Our observation: Patricia's only child lives with the grandmother and Patricia´s husband supports her if she finds sleep in work. She likes honesty and always tries her very best. She says she is always in a good mood and likes to work with people.

Her story: Joyce has really shown that she is interested in a long term relashionship with her employers. For one employer she started to work 10 years ago for 2 days/week. That employer approached us to find work for her the day(s) above because she is soon having a baby and needs someone full time. Joys can't work for her full time as she is just as loyal to her other employer where she started 6 years ago 3days/week. We contacted both employers for references.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Joys has now been working for us for 10 years. She is an absolute gem and we love having her around. She always went that extra mile for us. We will soon be having a baby and need a full time cleaner but because she also works for my sister-in-law 3days/week she can't come work for us full time. It will take us long to find a replacment! Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 1 year old

Her story2013-2014 Idah has been working for a creche. I called them for a testimonial.  She is a Christian and doesn't mind working on Saturdays and loves kids.  Idah stays here with her husband and two children. End of 2014 Idah found work herself, full time with a family until they could no longer afford her End of 2015 and now she is looking for a new challenge again. I also called that family for a testimonial.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said:  Idah has been working for me in 2013 and 2014. I have a daycare with children from 1 to 5 years of age and she helped me wherever I needed her. Didn't only clean but was also involved with the children. I then had to reduce her days from 5 to 3 days a week because of financial reasons.  And because I had 2 other ladies employed who were with me longer than Idah.  My creche is in Somerset West and I can say only the best about Idah.  She was punctual, never sick, never full of stories or excuses and if she would be prepared to work for me for 3 days a week only which she is not I would take her immediately, so she left out of her own will and I wish her the very best and hope she will find a nice family who can pay her more. Idah worked for us for about one year until we could no longer afford her because my husband was retrenched. She is very hard working and cleaned our house from Mon to Fri very well. I was also happy with her ironing and she was well mannered.

Our observation:  Idah is soft spoken and shy at first. In her free time she likes to read and go to church. She also loves to spend time with her family and play with her two children. Idah likes to communicate, likes children and likes ironing.

But then we could no longer afford her and hope she will find a new family soon that is good to her because she deserves it.

Debra worked for us for 3 years. She was employed as a nanny while someone else cleaned the house. She was responsible for our child mainly and everything around the child. But then when the child went to creche I managed to clean the house myself and we had to let Debra go.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? Yes, 2 years

Her storyPatience has been working now for the same family since 06/16 in Durbanville. She arrives there on a Friday afternoon and leaves again Sunday evening. Since she technically only works two days (weekends) she would like to find full time work Monday to Friday for a better income and the family she is working for knows that. We called them for a testimonial. One Stop Domestic had placed Patience for a few months as a sleep in nanny. She had to look after a little boy but the family decided after a few months to send the boy to creche and Patience was no longer necessary as the flat was small and they now clean it on their own.

References: Yes, two

What the reference said: Patience has been working for us from mid 2016 now. She works for us Saturdays and Sundays and her main duty is to either clean or play with our children, especially the 2 year old. The children both like her a lot. She is always punctual and very reliable. Patience is a quiet lady and we hope she can work full time work somewhere soon.

We moved to Somerset from Joburg and our son needed a nanny and we also needed a cleaning lady. Patience was both for us and was very good with him. After a few months we however decided to put him in creche because we got the feeling he missed the contact with other children. As our flat is very small we had to let Patience go because of the creche fees and now we do the cleaning. We will miss her, she was very responsible with him and we can truly recommend her.

Our observationIn her free time Patience cleans her own house or spends time with her friends. Her children live in Zimbabwe so she could also be a sleep in domestic. She describes herself as quiet and keen to learn new things.

References: Yes, one

What the reference said: Jacky worked for us for about 3 years as a sleep in domestic until we could no longer afford her. She is an excellent cleaner and very good at multi-tasking. She also assisted me with my home-based business and was always friendly, on time and very professional. We let her do light cooking and she was involved with raising our child as well and assisted our nanny every time she needed her, so I can certainly recommend her as both a cleaning lady and nanny. What the reference said: Bonelwa was working for us for two years.  She is a very good worker.  In the very beginning I gave her an introduction of how I want things done and now I always make her a list of things to do.  I like her ironing and she is always punctual and lets you know if she can’t come to work which doesn’t happen often. Bonelwa worked for us for 4 days a week for about 2 years. She cleaned our house two days a week and the office another two days. She is recommendable, punctual and friendly. She occassionally looked after our children who were then 3 and 8 years old. She unfortunately left us to work full time for a coffee shop.

Our observation: Bonelwa describes herself as open minded and says she likes new challenges. It is important to her to be punctual, she is well spoken and passionate about children.

Worked with children before, if yes what ages were they? A baby and a 4 year old

Her storyFor a year Tutu worked for two years full time for a family with a baby. The mother was at home and mostly handled the baby but every now and then the baby was alone with Tutu when the mom went quickly to the shops. Then One Stop Domestic found work for Tutu in Cape Town as a sleep in lady for a year. The family had a 4 year old boy and Tutu often had to watch him Saturday mornings when the parents were away doing sports. She also did evening babysitting for him which the family paid her extra for. Then Tutu fell pregnant and when the baby was due decided to take off a year to be there for her baby. The baby currently lives with her but should Tutu find sleep in work she will bring the baby to her other two children who live with her mother in the Eastern Cape. We called both families for a testimonial and Tutu says she doesn't want to have more children.

References: Yes, two

What the reference saidTutu worked for us 2 years full time. I am a stay at home mom and she sometimes looked after our baby when I had to go somewhere. Tutu is honest and was never sick. She is a hard worker and I can recommend her.

Tutu was placed with us by One Stop Domestic. She was a sleep in lady for a year and our 4 year old loved her from the first moment. She is non demanding and was evening babysitting for us as well as looking after our boy most Saturday mornings. She then had a baby herself and explained to us that she wants to take off a year to be with her baby so we had to fill her position.

Our observationTutu is very friendly and thankful. She likes children and is a good communicator as well as hard working.

His storyAbel worked in a take away restaurant in Hermanus. There he washed dishes, cleaned floors and toilets or delivered take aways by foot or bicycle. When it was quiet the take away shop owner let him work in his garden and we called him for a testimonial. Abel's income was too little. He then helped out at a floor installation company, also in Hermanus before he decided to move to Strand. And now he is looking for work here. He can iron as well.

We placed him in a guesthouse where he does cleaning and now he is still looking for the above day(s).

If he would not have decided to move to Somerset-West, he would still be working for me.

Our observation: Abel is very hardworking and strong. On weekends he goes to the gym and he goes to church on Sundays. He lives there with a friend and both of them make their own food and clean the house themselves. He has experience in both cleaning and ironing and can be a gardener as well as a housekeeper.
